[comp.windows.x] looking for a desktop user inferface

koenig@carina.tat.physik.uni-tuebingen.de (Harald Koenig) (06/20/91)

The subject says it all. I'm looking for something like the ATARI or
APPLE user interface (functionallity, not look and feel) to
- copy, move, rename, remove file (as icons and/or names)
- double click executables to start
- double click data files to start a default action ( printing .txt files,
TeXing .tex files, compiling .c file and so on)
- maybe all necessary UNIX stuff a normal user (no system administration)
  has to do.

Thanks,
Harald Koenig

I am not sure if this is it, I hav'nt had time to compile it. But here
is the intro from the shar script:

This is version 1.5 of the X Desktop Manager for the X Window System. It
is designed as a graphical replacement to the command-line orientated UNIX
shell. See the help file for a full list of features and how to use them.
