[comp.windows.x] Motif on BSD 4.3 UNIX?

Can Motif V1.1 be used on BSD 4.3 UNIX Release 3.3? Its documentation mentioned
that it can be used on BSD 4.3 Release 4.0, but said nothing about earlier
versions.

Thanks in advance.

BSD UNIX doesn't have "Release" numbers like that. Presumably, those
comments are referring to some vendor's OS that has release numbers 3.3
and 4.0 and the like; to what vendor's OS are they referring?
(Obviously not SunOS, as SunOS releases prior to 4.0 put "BSD 4.2 UNIX"
or something on that order in their version number strings, and SunOS
4.0 and later dropped "BSD", "4.2", and "UNIX" from the version number
string - the first because SunOS isn't BSD, the second because most of
the BSD content in 4.x is 4.3BSD, and the third because it wasn't close
enough to S5 for AT&T to let them use the trademark.)
