Several programmers have inquired about network distribution of the source code for "Object-oriented Programming with the X Window System Toolkits," Jerry D. Smith, Wiley, 1991. I've recently placed the source code in a compressed tar file and made it available via UUNET. I chose UUNET because from there readers can access it using ftp, uucp, or UUNET's 900 number. Warning for low-speed modem users: there's a lot of code, approximately 250 book pages of source, plus alternate versions of some of the applications from the book. The compressed file is about 165K. For individuals who don't have fast transfer capabilities, we're still offering the source code by mail as outlined in the book for a $30 distribution fee. The book is scheduled for reprint in about three weeks, and the preface will be updated to point out the ftp availability: The source code is available for anonymous ftp or UUCP access from UUNET.
