I routinely get the Xnews server to crash and dump core with the following message, XNeWS: internal error detected (SIGSEGV). Report this problem to a knowledgeable person. this is the information I get from dbx, zippy{santiago}31: dbx /usr/openwin/bin/xnews core Reading symbolic information... Read 3981 symbols warning: core file read error: address not in data space program terminated by signal ABRT (abort) (dbx) where warning: core file read error: address not in data space kill() at 0xf775c120 CatastrophicSignalHandler() at 0xc856c _sigtramp() at 0xf7732c4c etext() at 0x6c28ff98 X11() at 0x194d8 run_process() at 0x15a78 RunScheduler() at 0xbf568 main() at 0x8d7dc (dbx) quit are there any "knowledgeable person" type people out there who could give some kind of clue as to what conditions may cause this kind of error to occur? Maybe someone has compiled a list of situations where this kind of error occurs? Maybe someone could tell me who the "knowledgeable person" Sun is referring to would be? Guesses are welcome! My environment is as follows; SPARC 2s and SLCs, and OpenWindows 2.0 installed straight from the CD in my .xinitrc I spawn a Console Xterm, mwm, then one more Xterm in that order and all in background and that is it.
