Hi, It's 4 AM in the morning and I have nothing much to do but write a note here (I have submitted 4 articles in the past 2 hrs- Guess some record!). Hopefully, I am the second Guy to post a note. Anyway, I have decided to buy the book and software (although I don't have a PC yet) assuming I would get the hardware soon :-). I have few questions of Andy Tannenbaum (and for everybody). a. Is MINIX a part of the amoeba project or is it a separate piece of work. b. This is(probably) for everybody: We have all seen PD langauges and tools but not OS (well ZCPR3 does exist, but it has very little following) until this. What happens later on if a behemoth like IBM approaches you to port MINIX into one of their machines (say an IBM processor to avoid the clone following) in order to scuttle ATT, SUN MS-XENIX and other UNIX vendors. (I hate IBM and have less regard for any manufacurer who does not support UNIX). c. Given the multitudes of micro UNIXes (VENIX, XENIX,..), would this attempt to set a standard.( It would be better that way). This is probably too early to judge. .... Renu Raman ihnp4!nucsrl!ram
