Andy, Just a quick question. I need to know if Minix with work with the Zenith Z-100 computer? If not now, what problem do you see trying to port it to the Z-100? Mike

mike@edstb.UUCP asked about the difficulty of porting minix to Zenith's Z-100. Since the only similarity between the Z-100 and the IBM PC is that they both run the same cpu chip, it looks to me like all of the device drivers will need to be re-invented. We may be able to use the Zenith rom for simple things like screen output, but anything dealing with interrupts will probably need to bypass the rom. A floppy-only Z-100 lacks a dma controller. I plan to add a dma chip to my homebrew SCSI disk interface. Does anyone know if Zenith's hard disk controller does dma? Are there any other Z-100 owners out there who want to run minix? I will be taking a shot at porting minix to my Z-100 as soon as I get organized and acquire a copy of the book and software. Paul Allen
