The solution here is to post an announcement, but not the binaries. If you give out directions on how to get it in either format, then you have both general availability and centralized distribution. You are happy as a clam. The rest of the net is also happy. Amazing! Let me offer these rules of thumb for posting programs to comp.os.minix. Unless someone yells awfully loud, can we just leave them as: Post sources in MINIX shar format for general distribution. Announce the availability of binaries, or of sources with a controlled distribution. Include directions for obtaining copies. If it isn't plain ASCII text, let's not post it here. OK? -bob.
