[comp.os.minix] Vapornix?

If I hadn't seen the Minix book, and the kernel listing in the back, I would
be tempted to say that Minix is another example of vapor technology!

When I ordered the book and software in very early January, I was told the
ship date of the software was in February. Wondering what happened to the
software in February, I called Prentice Hall. At that time I was told the new
date was March 16th. Guess what? I just got off the phone with the customer
service rep at Prentice-Hall (USA phone (201)767-5054), and was told that

"... there is no movement at the warehouse ..."

(translation - it isn't there and hasn't come in from the binder!)

When I asked when it was going to be available I was told that they didn't
know, but that it wouldn't be March 16th!

Now, I would say that sounded a lot like some of the high tech companies
I have dealt with in the past that pre-announce a product that they haven't
even started yet.

No flames please - I know the stuff exists, but I must say doing business
with Prentice-Hall hurts! What even makes me more angry is that I asked them
at the start if it would be available for my class (I teach at Northeastern)
and they assured me it would. So much for that.
