Has any one worked up the code required to get MINIX running on the Western Digital Controller? I could also use a few pointers on where to find out information concerning the ic's involved in communicating with the hard disk. The controller which I use is capable of performing an autoconfiguration (this allows it to talk to many different drives). Is there a way to find out the drive type on these autoconfiguring controllers? Thanx. Mike Mitchell arpa: myxm@lanl.gov uucp: {favorite backbone}!cmcl2!lanl!myxm

(If/when P-H ships it. )-: BTW, what's the word on multiple partitions? I've got MesS-DOS on the lower partition; will this cause problems with Minix? ++Brando -- ____ ______________ / \ / __ __ __ \ Brandon S. Brandon and others, I have set up MINIX on a hard disk with four partitions. The first three are MINIX and the last is DOS. I did not have any problems in doing this, but MINIX is quite flakey. Occasionaly it goes out to lunch with "unexpected trap" errors and I have to cycle the power to bring it back up. I am going to try recompiling the kernel for an AT and give it a try on there. The AT I have is a tiawan clone so we'll also get to see how compatible it is. Does anyone have a neat idea on how to make MINIX autoboot from the MINIX partition on hard disk? I dislike having to juggle two floppies to bring it up. Still nothing interesting concerning the Western Digital Query. Mike Mitchell myxm@lanl
