I was wondering if anybody has rebuilt minix from the sources. I read on this news group some talk about needing a PC/IX system to be able to rebuild a kernel. Is that true? I just received the disks for minix and after looking through it, I see some makefiles for rebuilding minix under PC/IX, minix, and MSDOS using the CI86 compiler. Has anybody done it under minix? My minix disks are labeled version 1.1, do I have an newer release maybe? Has anybody tried minix with an RLL controller? Thanks, Tom Ford Convex Computer Corp. ...!convex!tford

At least, I've rebuilt the kernel from all sources about 4 times now on my Toshiba T1100+, mostly to get my 720k disk driver hacks to work. I had no trouble at all. Read in the manual appendix where it talks about rebuilding from sources, and xref to the makefiles on disk... There were a couple of minor differences on my disks, but nothing even a novice kernel hacker couldn't figure out... I don't even remember what they were. All rebuilds done with Minix. -- Bdale Garbee, N3EUA phone: 303/593-9828 h, 303/590-2868 w uucp: {bellcore,crash,hp-lsd,hpcsma,ncc,pitt,usafa,vixie}!winfree!bdale fido: sysop of 128/19 packet: n3eua @ k0hoa, Colorado Springs
