The sources in the book say that it is OK for private individuals to give copies of Minix to other private individuals, and that commercial redistribution requires permission from Prentice-Hall. If one person buys the floppies, and he gives copies to N people, who each pay him 80/(N+1) dollars, is this considered commercial redistribution? In other words, if I and a few other people want to split the cost of Minix, is this OK? Does it depend on N? -- Tim Smith "Froh wie seine Sonnen fliegen sdcrdcf!ism780c!tim Durch des Himmels praecht'gen Plan, Laufet, Brueder, eure Bahn, Freudig wie ein Held zum Siegen"

If they pay you, it's commercial. This is a very nice policy on the part of P-H, let's not abuse it. -- David S. Hayes, The Merlin of Avalon PhoneNet: (202) 694-6900 UUCP: *!seismo!sundc!hqda-ai!merlin ARPA: merlin%hqda-ai@seismo.css.gov
