I finally picked up my copy of "Operating Systems..." a week ago. Neat stuff. Anyway, while following the MINIX discussions here and in the book, I've thought of a few changes that I would like to try to make to MINIX. How feasable would it be to modify MINIX to use 0-640K for system stuff (RAM disk, kernel, etc.), 640K-1024K for what it already is, and then start loading user programs at 1MB+? This is a very large project which I'm not qualified to start at this moment. I'm just researching the idea now, and the whole thing is just one "just to do it" type projects. Is there anyone out there who is working on something similar? How about anyone with suggestions?
