It is all very well for people to say "Topic X should be a mailing list or a moderated group" BUT this is only practical when you are not paying REAL MONEY for your mail. Sending to a Malinig list or a moderated group has the immediate implications a) You pay for submission (this is not trivial when trans-atlantic costs are consider - there are no moderators outside Northa America as far as I can see), and b) You then have to pay AGAIN to receive your own article when it appears in the mod group or mailing list (I know mailing lists dont have to do this, but they almost always do) This is rather unreasonable I feel as the cost should be distributed between the readers of the group. This is not easy to do so the solution is a "net" type group (possibly with limited distribution) which guarantees single transmission from your site and shared cost. OK, so the cost is then shared over everbody not just the subscribers, but, heck, I'm paying part of their bills so it probably works even in the end. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Lindsay F.
