Finally got The Book ($28 from Macmillan Book Clubs), have joined the queue (I'm sure disastrously long) waiting for disks from P-H. I've been watching the periodic lists of what Minix runs on, and have yet to see my combination, namely a 640K, two floppy Zenith 158, 4.77/8 MHz XT clone, with 30MB ST238 hard disk w/ Adaptec 2070a controller [I must be one of the lucky ones, have had no problem of any kind with this hard disk/controller]. Naturally, what I would like (eventually) is to put an MS-DOS partition and a Minix partition on the HD, then boot whichever is my need of the moment. I got Minix primarily as a learning tool, since I don't know much about operating systems. One thing I do know, however, is that learning tools get used more if they're easy to use, especially if they can be used for real work. Hence, my question: does anybody know if I'm still out of luck, or maybe (better) in luck or close to being in luck? -- ==ARPA:===============anderson@vms.macc.wisc.edu===Jess Anderson====== | UUCP: {harvard, seismo, rutgers, (avoid ihnp4!) 1210 W.
