I finally found some time to hack in the changes by Jim Paradis to mount root from a hard disk. except for a couple minor typos and many hours rebuilding (because of a typo that affected h/const.h), it was duck soup... Jim said to change the define for ROOT_DEV in h/const.h to 0x31. The correct value is 0x301. Dont let it bother you Jim, I had fun tracking the error down and now I only have to use one floppy to bring Minix up! / lives in partition 1 and /usr lives in partition 3. I was planning on using partition 2 for /tmp but now I think I'll use ramdisk for it.
