Does anyone have any experience running the PC simulator and minix on a Unix machine? I've brought it up on a vax 8650 and cant get it to do much beyond the initial boot sequence. It is also VERY slow - like 7 or 8 minutes just to do that (on a lightly loaded 8650). I'm planning to teach a course using minix in the fall and can use either AT clones (with one floppy), PCs (with 2 360k drives) or ATT 3B2s (which I thought might be easiest since they have more disk space.) Also, has anyone actually taught using minix yet? I'd be very interested in hearing about what hardware was used, etc. Thanks Matt Blaze matt@flash.bellcore.com blaze@cs.columbia.edu
