[comp.os.minix] Minix on non-IBM PC's

lucb@kulcs.UUCP (06/19/87)

We are planning to use Minix for some student practica.
Therefore we liked to know how easy (or difficult) it is to port
Minix to an Olivetti M24 or an Amstrad/Schneider PC1512.
Remarks on ports to other machines are also welcome.

Please respond by E-mail.
			Thanks.

If you look at the code in the book, you will see that MINIX actually
should work with the Olivetti M24. fsck even has special code to
determine that you are using an M24 keyboard, so that it can use different
scan code tables.

I saw a few weeks ago that the minix port for the Atari and Amiga
were completed. What would it take to port it to the MAC? Would
it be an easy task of changing some port addresses and system calls?
Or would the apple ROM calls keep a person from doing this easily?
I was just wondering ...... I really like the IBM version of minix
and have been following it closely on the net. But I would like to
get it on a machine I own (Mac) and not a borrowed (IBM) machine.
