[comp.os.minix] Two questions about 'cc'

john@moncol.UUCP (John Ruschmeyer) (07/10/87)

Two questions about the MINIX 'cc' command:

1) What does the undocumented '-O' flag do?

According to cc.c, it sends an additional command line argument
'-p4' to /usr/lib/cg. Wnat exactly, if anything, is cg doing with
it and what effect does it have on the resulting code?

2) As distributed, 'cc' does not pass a copy of the -Tdir argument
along to 'asld'. Is this desirable behavior and, if so, why? In my
experience, it caused problems when trying to compile a large
program with a relatively full ramdisk (since asld alwys wanted
   to use /tmp).
