Recently I've seen two postings asking about what happened to the rest of the "changes for MSC" postings I was making, so I wanted to briefly explain what happened. First, I began by posting the first four articles around August 1st. However, I quickly got a message back from my Usenet neighbor, amc, telling me that the files had not gone out because of an incorrect date on the files. Also, there was an error in the article numbering. I don't have any way to cancel articles from here, so I reposted the first four with corrected headers, and waited to see if those got out. I shortly got mail from several sites saying they had not received the first four, or they had been truncated. So, I decided to wait awhile to see if things got straightened out over time. Eventually, I got some queries from people saying that they had received the complete files for the first four (I guess from the 2nd posting), and were waiting for the others. So, now I have posted the remaining files over the past couple of days; during the interim I wrote a "postnews" so that I didn't have to hand-create the headers from my PC, so all these remaining files were posted with the new postnews. This means that all the files should have consistent headers (or else they will all be wrong for the same reason :-)). I hope that the files will now be received properly; I will wait awhile to make any corrections or take any other action, to see whether the files succeed in propagating around the network after awhile. For certain reasons, I will probably not be able to do any more with Minix for at least a month, and after that may possibly disappear altogether, but if someone succeeds in installing the changes into his or her Minix, please send me mail letting me know.
