Minix and Microport ------------------- I am currently generating Minix with Microport Unix (2.2.0-L) as a host development system. I would like to know if anybody else is working on the same thing. In particular: - Could anybody e-mail me the assembler sources. The Microport assembler uses a syntax that is very strange (to me). (If you know where I can get an official specification, please let me know !) - Has anybody written a program like "stl2out" which converts INTEL "Single Task Loadable"-module format to minix a.out format ? - Has anybody written sysVcp, sysVls etc. utilities to access the Microport file structure from within minix (or the other way round). - Is there any snack that I should be aware of ? (Until now everything goes fine, but I don't have the thing running yet). If I do not get a response on these requests, within a few weeks time, I will have these programs written myself. In case anybody is interested ... ? Minix and real-time ------------------- I would like to add features to Minix, which turn it into an operating system which is suitable for real-time applications. I would like to exchange ideas with anybody who has similar plans: - Implement a non-blocking send - Implement send to "named" processes (including global name services) - expand memory to 16K+ using - 80286 in protected mode - 80386 fully - modify the task priority mechanism - and many others Minix and Protected Mode ------------------------ Since I intend to convert Minix to "Protected Mode", I need a "builder". I have the official INTEL tools (asm, binder, builder) under MS-DOS from a previous project developing a Protected Mode OS, but I would like to repeat this under Microport Unix. Does anybody know where to find a suitable tool ? (I could do everything in assembler, but that is much more work). Jaap Noordzij BSO/Automation Technology P.O.
