[comp.os.minix] Adeptec RLL controller on a 6300

toms@oakhill.UUCP (Thomas Spohrer) (10/15/87)

A friend is trying to bring up Minix on his 6300 that has an
Adeptec RLL hard disk controller. So far no luck. Does anyone have
any suggestions? Will the standard XT driver work or will another
driver be necessary? The controller is a standard PC compatible RLL
not a propriatary AT&T controller (sorry I do not know the model number
off hand).

	Thanks in advance.

We have brought up Minix on an Adaptec 2,7 RLL controler in a Zenith 158.
I used the xt_wini that was posted by Dr. Tanenbaum as a 'pre 1.2' release
and supported the Western Digital controler. The only change that had to
be made was to change the number of sectors per track from 17 to 25 (there
are actually 26 sectors per track, but the last one is reserved as a possible
replacement for a bad sector). It has worked flawlessly.
