I have been with the comp.os.minix news group since its beginning and somehow missed the mailing list announcement. Maybe there never was one. Source group is needed badly. A mailing list would do a lot of us good as well. If any of you know of any existing minix mailing list please drop me a line or better yet just put me in! I have been trying to make my AT clone boot up either MINIX or DOS from hard disk and last week I ended up crashing my disk. The system did not even recognize the existence of my hard disk. I had it partitioned into four pieces (one for MS-DOS, one for boolblok and kernel stuff for booting, one for /usr, one for /user) and was planning to 'build' the boot disk on the second partition and boot the machine from the second partition. Has anyone done this? I know long time ago (a few months ago) someone posted an article along with some fixes regarding this process. Maybe that person(s) can help. In the light of products such as VP/ix from Interactive, how about providing a MS-DOS as a running task within MINIX? This would allow switching between DOS and MINIX universe. BIOS will need to be modified along with kernel. I am not an expert on this. Any of you have any technical opinions? Only I (not my employer) am responsible for what I said here.
