It seems that Spafford has now removed this newsgroup, folks. Please DO NOT FLAME or RECREATE the group until you've read this. I was responsible for the instigation of procedures for the creation of net.internat in the first place, although MikeB actually created it. I have now counted more than 100 messages in news articles in favor of the existence of a NETWIDE newsgroup for the discussion of the Internationalisation subject. There was a mandate at the EUUG Conference in Copenhagen of 40 votes in favor of creating the group. There have also been 3 comments pointing out that the procedure for establishing this group was not correctly followed. I am sorry for this, as I said yesterday - this is regretable and unfortunate. There have been 2 messages with alternative suggestions. However, considering the overwhelming desire from the NET for such group since the incorrect inception, I now consider that the correct procedure HAS been carried out. A SUMMARY and CALL for VOTES please: 1. the group shall be called net.internat 2. a MODERATED group is not wanted - the subject is of wide interest and the need for a moderated group has not been demonstrated 3. a subgroup of net.unix is not wanted - internationalisation is only partially related to UNIX, the field is much wider though Please send ME your VOTES for this newsgroup VIA MAIL. I'm sorry to have to get this to happen again - but I am now attempting to live by the THREE year old RULES. I will post a the results to net.news.group and eunet.news.group in about one week's time.
