Does ELLE run OK under "real" UNIX ? I'm looking for a simple
editor I can use as "guts" for something else - anyone out there have
a copy I can get either through uucp or BITNET ??

ELLE runs on every Unix variant that I'm aware of, including V6, V7, BSD, SYSV, Xenix, etc. It also runs on our TOPS-20 system. It is simple compared with EMACS or Gnuemacs. It is complex compared with /bin/ed. A recent posting from broman@bugs.nosc.mil explained how to retrieve the sources from his site. If you do so, I would like to ask that you examine the 00read.me file (policy etc.) before using ELLE as the guts for an unspecified "something else". Thanks. --Ken -------
