I have just gotten back into MINIX and this newsgroup after a long
break, so excuse my ignorance on a couple questions:
1) I am running MINIX on my Zenith-171 portable pc-compatible, version
MINIX 1.1. After bootup, if I use any of the menu commands, such as
"l" to check and list a filesystem, the text scrolls on the screen ok.
Once I complete boot up, and login (e.g., root), the screen scrolling
gets weird. Off the bottom of the screen, the cursor next appears on
top of the screen over on the right-hand-side (reminisent of an old
Tek 4010 ! :') ). Nothing is visible on the screen until I "carriage
return" 3 pages by, then the cursor becomes visible again, but over on
the right-hand-side again. Well, there is a 3x3 repetition of this
kind of stuff until the cursor is visible again at the top-of-screen,
"home" position.
Im not supprised about a screen problem, because though the
Z-171 emulates a CGA, the hardware is probably not the same as in a
real CGA. However, since it scrolls right for the bootup menu, why
shouldnt it later on???
2) what's the story on getting updates? I have heard about version 2
here on the net, but I've never received any info on updates from
Prentice-Hall (to my dim recolection...).
