Sender:Ken Firestone Distribution:USA I am trying to get Minix running on my hard disk drive. It seems to run fine with floppies, but its a pain with only one floppy drive. I am using a Seagate st-251 (42 meg, 6 heads, 820 cylinders) and a western digital WD1002A WX1 controller. The copy of xt_wini.c that I have seems to be for the WX2 controller, and I'm not sure what the differences are, ore where I should modify the code. I also get an out of paper error when I try to print anything, I assume something else has to be modified to correct this. Any and all help would be appreciated by myself and several friends who are trying to get Minix going. Ken Firestone (301) 997-7784 (voice) ...mimsy!aplcen!kenf (I think, as I'm new at this)

I have a drive of identical capacity, except it is a miniscribe. You need to change fdisks NHEADS to 6, the "sectors per track" count in fsck to 17*6, but I don't think the driver itself needs changing. Also I reversed the order of the overlap checks in fdisk, is this right (dos partition is still shown as #4). On another note, fsck gives terrible errors when I tried (once) to check the hdd partition 1. Does the 1.2 fsck have problems with hdds? It works ok on floppy.
