Bruce, I have been trying to get this mail to you for a couple of weeks. After trying a couple of different paths that couldn't get to your system, I finally decided my only choice would be to post this (Sorry to the rest of the net). In case anyone is curious, Bruce is wondering how to apply the AT&T 6300+ changes I posted recently since he can't boot MINIX to start with. ------------------------ Bruce, Well, you have a bit of a problem. I was unable to use the 1.2MB AT disks on the 6300+ and ended up using the 360K disks. The problem is that the AT boot disk is read by the BIOS routines (so it works properly), you insert the root filesystem disk and hit '='. Minix then trys to read the floppy using the MINIX floppy disk driver. The MINIX floppy disk driver for the AT just doesn't work with the 6300+ floppy at 1.2MB (see my fix in my recent posting). You have 2 choices: Find someone nearby with a true PC and rebuild MINIX with the changes I posted, or send me a self addressed stamped floppy (SASF :-)) and I would be glad to give you a copy of my boot image. Once you get the 6300+ boot disk, you should be able to use the 1.2MB AT disks. Let me know what you would like to do, my home address is below. Kurt Vangsness 1112 E. My boot image contains a modified version of Jim Paradis' tty driver that actually works very nicely on the 6300+ at 1200 baud. If you want my version of Jim's driver, send me an additional floppy.
