COOPRIDER@USC-ISIB@sri-unix (05/27/82)
From: Lee W Cooprider <COOPRIDER@USC-ISIB> Date: 26 Apr 1982 0012-PDT This is to inform you of the progress of the work at USC on porting the Berkely Unix kernel to the Data General MV/8000 (for those unfamiliar with this machine, it is a VAX/780-class processor in the Eclipse family and has some interesting architectural features). The C compiler for the machine is in beta-test mode (except that it does not handle floating point yet). It, with an associated assembler and loader, will be available this summer to educational/research institutions. Unix is some time off, but is actively under development. Sometie this year is possible. People who are interested in the C compiler may contact me via netmail to Cooprider @ ISIB or by phone at (213)-743-5886. -- Lee -------
