This happens every once in a while. Hopefully by posting this message, it will be prevented from happening more that it is going on right now. As many people know, to receive info-minix you send a message to "Info-Minix-Request@udel.edu" politely asking for a "subscription". Every once in a while this message gets sent to "Info-Minix" instead and the request is sent out to everyone on the list. This is not good, but people ignore it and sometimes the person gets added to the list anyway. The problem is that some people think that the person is asking for a subscription to something else. Then they send out a message asking "please subscribe me too" which also gets sent to everyone on the list. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not help propagate this problem! If you are getting this message you ALREADY HAVE A SUBSCRIPTION! What exactly is subscribtion? I can read notes (i.e. comp.os.minix), are there some more discussions about minix that I am missing, or is it just a way to read by mail instead of notes? If it's different, please subscribe me as well. Otherwise, I'll keep reading notes... Administriva time: People seem to be confused about the difference between what INFO-MINIX and the way you subscribe to it. This is problem on BITNET because of the existence of LISTSERVers. LISTSERVers serve as redistribution agents for mail digests, etc on BITNET. People see that there's a mailing list for Minix and they send a message to subscribe to INFO-MINIX instead of the the LISTSERVer that distributes the list. If you are already getting messages such as this then you're already subscribed. Now back to the real stuff: Has anyone out there written networking software for MINIX? I'm interested in making MINIX work on a network of AT's but I haven't seen any information as to software.
