[comp.os.minix] Minix - Lost interrupts?

krantz@csed-1.IDA.ORG (Alan Krantz) (05/27/88)

Even though minix has been out for quite some time - I've just begun to
look at it - and just wanted to check if what I'm seeing is correct. It
appears that for many of the interrupts (system calls, clock ticks, ...)
that interrupts are left off for most if not all of the processing (Even
though the 8259 is reenabled this will only allow for the stacking of one
interrupt). This would make it quite likely that things like clock ticks,
I/O requests from high speed devices, ... would be lost. Is this correct -
has this been a problem with minix? Everything I've said is based on what
I've seen in the book and would be more likely to occur on a slow machine
such as a 4.77 ibm-pc as oppose to a faster machine (turbo pc or AT) - has
this been changed in version 1.2 ?
