[comp.os.minix] Leading Edge model D2

ast@cs.vu.nl (Andy Tanenbaum) (05/31/88)

I found some information that may solve some problems with Minix
installation. (you may want to re-post this to info-minix)

Many low-cost AT clones are sold with a 8-bit hard drive controller
instead of a 16-bit hard drive controller. This may affect proper
configuration of Minix. Which hard drive controller should be used in
that case?

I know of at least one Leading Edge D2 (AT-Clone) that had this though
I don't think it is standard policy of Leading Edge to do that.
It it may have been a situation where the customer bought a diskless D2
and added his old XT's controller and drive.
