Does the minix filesystem provide large speed gains over the DOS filesystem? Or was it implemented mainly as an instructional tool? Has anyone considered reimplementing the minix filesystem using the DOS filesystem as a 'lower layer' (analogous to protocol layering)? What kind of performance hit would a clever implementor suffer? Are legal ramifications in the way? It seems like supporting everyone's disks is a major problem discussed in this group--and people have better things to do with their time. -- | Clint Jeffery, University of Arizona Department of Computer Science | cjeffery@arizona.edu -or- {ihnp4 noao allegra cmcl2}!arizona!cjeffery --
