Dear All, Having had Minix 1.1 for over a year I decided it was time to upgrade. I had missed all the 1.2 upgrades etc over the summer. So I grubbed through a local archive of what I believe to be everything and got the 1.1->1.2 diffs, extra programs and 1.2->1.3 diffs, etc. I am doing my upgrade on a SUN workstation with fancy graphical tools to manipulate the filesystem (ADVERT: these tools available for Workstations from UKC 8-). This makes it much easier to do patching. PROBLEM: Can anybody send me complete v1.3 copies of the following headers: /usr/include/ctype.h /usr/include/grp.h /usr/include/stdio.h Mine are the wrong size by more than a trivial amount. QUESTIONS: What is fdisk ? Is it (scratches head to promote memory) a program for harddisks only? I have a diff but not an original! The sources for the Minix v1.2 C compiler is available from Unipress, Ok. However did the binary for the compiler get posted to the net? I have a uuencoded asld, did I miss the rest? If I did would any kind soul mail me (rlh2@ukc.ac.uk) a uuencoded binary? If it did'nt make it out would any kind soul still mail me a binary? Missing /minix/command Files compress.c -- my copy is authored by Richard Todd .. is this 1.3? diskcheck.c -- is missing .. was this another harddisk checker? (if so I DONT want it .. I'm floppyfied) strings.c - which one is standard? I have one by T. Holm and one by Peter S. Housel. tsort.c - lost track of this one .. is it monty wall's version? tty.c - in the commands directory not the kernel. I gave up on this one .. I NEED A DEFINITIVE 1.3 Version unless somebody can give me some context to search for through an archive i.e. an author's name. I have not compiled any of it yet. Mainly because I'd like to do it in something like 15 minutes instead of 2 hours....was that what you quoted for the difference between 1.1 and 1.2 compilers, Andy? I am not looking forward to moving all the sources back and forth to/from a PC, so I'll wait 'til the kernel diffs come out before trying a complete rebuild 8-{ If you can help with any of my queries then I would be very grateful. Thanks, Richard PS: Just think, with networking on the way I could have all my Minix filesystem on a SUN and access it over the ether, with fs running remotely. Now all I need is for somebody to port X Windows to Minix and I can leave the workstations alone ... 8-} -- Richard Hesketh: rlh2@ukc.ac.uk | --- | Computing Lab., University of Kent at Canterbury, | Canterbury, Kent, CT2 7NF, England. |
