Hi Folks, Because I have an AT with only one floppy, I found it pretty painful to try and transfer the files to the hard disk where I could play with them. I didn't want to use the hard disk driver immediately, until I could be sure it would not trash the hard disk. Besides I want to use the tools under Xenix until minix matures a bit more. What am I doing with Minix when I have Xenix? Well Xenix source costs about $100,000,000,000.00..... and I have these strange ideas ..... Result: A program that traverses a minix file system and extracts out all the files it finds into the current directory on the hard disk with the same directory structure. Problem: Only runs under Xenix because I don't know how (and dont' really want to know how :-) to read and write floppies under MS-DOS. Now, I thought that some people getting minix for the first time might be in the same position and possibly find a program like this useful. In which case, I am happy to post to the net as is. OR someone might like to take it put in the hacks for say Microsoft or Turbo C to run it under MS-DOS. Anyone interested? Anyone care? Well, I got my money's worth anyway. If something like this has already been done then sorry for the net traffic. Please mail direct and I'll gauge the response and act accordingly.
