Hi there everybody. I'm a new commer to the Minix world. I'm sory that
I'm posting something like this but I don't have any other choice.
One of the things I'm doing is being a student at George Washington
University (DC). I'm interested in Minix because my thesis is about
object-oriented file systems and I want to implement it with Minix.
I got from P-H version 1.2 of the PC 640Kb version and the Unix
tape. My problems: 1. I have 8MHz AT and 16Mhz Compaq 386, how can I
put Minix on there hard-disks (the AT has a 70Mb Core disk). 2. I
tried to run the tape's PC simulator on my Sun 3/280 but I could not
get it to work. I'm stacked. The answers I'm looking for are:
1. How can I install it on my hard-disk
2. How can I get the updates for version 1.3x
3. Can I run it under MesS-DOS ? I read here and there that a port
was done ? I need something for Microsoft C.
4. How should I run Minix on my Sun (SunOS version 3.5).
You see, I have too many questions but from the other side, if I'll
get it running, Minix will have a new file-system (I hope). I'll
post it when it will work.
