Hello - I would like to thank all who responded to my question about source code in Dr. Dobbs being postable to the group. Opinions varied from an enthusiastic "Post it!" to "Maybe you'd better check it out first." I telephoned Dr. Dobb's and spoke to Jonathan Erickson. His comment to me was that as long as there was a reference to Dr. Dobb's in the post, it was fine with him. However, this only convered the articles in question; others would have to be discussed on a case-by-case basis. In reading the source listings carefully, there are copyright notices written by the authors of both articles. Which means I need to get their permission to post their source. At this point I feel balked. To continue, I need to contact both authors and get their permissions to post. Does this sound familiar?
