Hi again folks. I just have a couple of quick questions that I am sure have been beaten to death but... After logging in for the first time (under ast ) I wanted to run the test programs, I am unsure of just how IBM compatible it really is. All seemed to be going well until test 5 and then it and subsequent tests had many errors. It seemed that 1/5 of the errors were NOT OWNER and the other 4/5 were FILE NOT FOUND. I then logged on as SU and all went perfectly. So if I read the book correctly (yes I finally got a copy!) it should have worked under ast. Is this a typo? Can I now pronounce it Machine & OS? Second question. Is it necessary to use a 1.2 Mb diskette to boot with? Can I put files on that disk or maybe use a 360 kb floppy? It just seems a large waste of expensive diskettes. I guess that is it, Thanks for reading and thanks ahead of time for any who reply! Dave Kinchlea Kinch@uwovax.uwo.ca davek@julian.uucp
