[comp.os.minix] How does the 68000 port manage memory ?

Reading about the ATARI ST port a question comes to mind :
How does this implementation manage process memory ? Special compiler that
produces relocatable code ? Run-time linking ? 
On the PC this point is moot since you have rudimentary address translation in
the CPU.

So how is it done ? I am really curious !
