Greetings All, My latest sob story is that the machine I was using in the computing center here was momentarily taken out of service to install a new 3.5 inch disk drive. The bad news is that for some reason they decided to scrub the hard disk and start over from scratch. This tends to result in elimination of the Minix partitions on said device, and can slow down development efforts on a given machine. So while I recover from the shock, I thought I might see if anyone has modified the XT winchester task to communicate properly with the Adaptec 2072 8 bit RLL hard disk controller. I would also be interested to hear if someone has run a Seagate ST-277R successfuly with the above controller. I am not quite certain, but I believe that this drive can be accomodated with 16 bit addresses (retailers claim a capacity of from 60 to 65.5 megabytes for this drive). Reassurances would be welcome. If you are kind enough to send source, please send a complete source rather than diffs or whatever variety, and please, no encoding other than p'rhaps uuencode or Listserv-PUNCH. I have attempted to use the posted patches I could find for the Adaptec-2072 with an ST-238R, but so far to no avail (I didn't try hard-coding param0 and param1 - I was going to when I discovered the tragedy outlined above). Thanks in advance to everyone who replies. Please EMail or SEND/FILE, and I will post a summary. --Steve.
