I hope to have a new PC/XT soon :-) and number one on the software-to-purchase list is MINIX. I plan to get 512k to start with. So, I'll probably order the 512k PC/XT MINIX. When I upgrade to 640k, can I reconfigure MINIX for 640k? (So that the end result would be the same as purchasing 640k MINIX). Are there any other versions of MINIX for a XT beside these two? car. -- Christopher A. In mail that I recieved about ordering MINIX, comments were made about recompiling "cc.c". I thought that the source for the compiler does not come with MINIX (the $80 package). Is "cc.c" just a front end arg parser to the compiler passes? (And then the sources for the compiler passes are not included). What book comes with MINIX? Is it the large light brown $$$ hardcover book with only the kernel listings? Or, is there some other smaller book. The postings that I've read have not been clear on this item. (I already have the large $$$ hardcover book. Can you get MINIX without the large book?) What is PH's order phone number? What are the order numbers for 512k MINIX and 640k MINIX? Thanks, car. -- Christopher A. The ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ As far as I know there are two editions of the book 'Design and Implem- tation of an Operating System': A hardcover version (the brown one) and a paperback edition (International student edition; red). Both are - again, as far as I know - essentially the same. > postings that I've read have not been clear on this item. (I already have the > large $$$ hardcover book. The international edition (the red book) has a section on ordering MINIX in the front - complete with address and such. > > Thanks, > > car. > -- > Christopher A.
