                EUUG SPRING 1989 CONFERENCE
                       and EXHIBITION

                  Brussels, April 3-7 1989

                 UNIX: EUROPEAN CHALLENGES



The BUUG will host the Spring '89 European UNIX systems User
Group Technical Conference in Brussels (Belgium).  The three
day conference with commercial exhibition beginning on April
3rd and finishing on April 5th,  will be followed by techni-
cal tutorials.

A  pre-conference  registration  pack,  containing  detailed
information will be issued in early December 1988.

Call for papers

The EUUG invites abstracts from  those  wishing  to  present
their  work.   All  submitted  papers will be refereed to be
judged with respect to quality, originality and relevance.
Suggested subjet topics include:

o Real time                o Fault tolerance
o Networking               o New architectures
o Security issues          o Transaction processing
o Graphics                 o Window systems and environments
o Internationalisation     o Supercomputing
o Distributed processing   o Standards and conformance tests


Submissions from Students are particularly encouraged  under
the  EUUG Student Encouragement Scheme, details of which are
available from the EUUG Secretariat.

       Abstract deadline         November 1st, 1988
       Acceptance notification   November 30th, 1989
       Final paper received      February 1st, 1989


_M_e_t_h_o_d _o_f _S_u_b_m_i_s_s_i_o_n

Abstracts must be submitted by post to the EUUG Secretariat.
All  submissions  will  be  acknowledged  by return of post.
Papers can also be submitted electronically to Prof. Nyssen,
but this is not the "formal" method.  _T_u_t_o_r_i_a_l _S_o_l_i_c_i_t_a_t_i_o_n

Tutorials are an  essential  part  of  the  EUUG's  biannual
events.   They  provide  "in depth" coverage of UNIX related
topics, by leading experts.

Those interested in offering a tutorial during the  Brussels
event,  should  contact the EUUG Tutorial Officer as soon as
possible.
