[comp.os.minix] Problems with MINIX for the PS/2

ast@cs.vu.nl (Andy Tanenbaum) (11/30/88)

I am still having problems with MINIX on the PS/2. For one thing, the
floppy disk controller appears to work differently. Does anyone know if
it is a NEC 765 chip, and if so, what are the parameters for 1.44 MB and
720K (see the current floppy.c for the 360K and 1.2MB parameters)?

Also, what is the disk geometry for the 720K and 1.44 MB disks, i.e. how
many tracks/sectors/cylinders does each have?

Don't know about 1.44Mb disks, but the 720K ones are just like the 360k
ones, but with 80 tracks. ie: 9 sectors/track, 2 sides, 80 tracks.
