I need to find the person (from the San Francisco bay area, I think) who told this list that he would make copies of the fully net-updated Minix 1.3 available to owners of previous versions. A year ago, when I thought I had more time than I did, I bought the Minix 1.1 disks from Computer Literacy Bookstore. A month ago (or thereabouts), when I was obviously being absent minded, I read the offer to provide copies of Minix (provided the requester actually had bought an earlier version, with exchange floppies, slightly higher west of the Missippi ...). Since I was being absent minded, I deleted the message. Now I'm about to go on holiday, and bringing up Minix 1.3 seems like a good idea. If you recognize yourself as the person who made the offer, please send me mail. Thanks.

My situation was similar to yours, but I *did* write to the person, who told me he'd been informed not to distribute *complete* 1.3c (which is what I recall he has) on that basis, because it would (as I understood him) undercut P-H's update package (to be available, apparently, for $29.95 sometime in February). While I'm not crazy about waiting, the fact is I've waited quite a while already, so I didn't pursue it. I'm posting in the somewhat distant hope that there may yet be an alternative someone out there will inform us of. ==Jess Anderson===Academic Computing Center=====Univ.
