We are using a Racal-Vadic VA811 dialer with 4.1bsd and Berkeley's dn daemon. The daemon was coded to send an abort character to the dialer if dialing failed. It then did a read on the dialer to "eat up" that abort acknowledge that is expected. I've had to remove this code because the daemon would hang forever waiting for the acknowledge. I don't have the test equipment to test if the dialer got the abort character and didn't ack or if the abort never got there. Has anybody else had similar problems with dnd and a VA811? Please reply by mail and I'll summarize if interest warrants it.
