I've run into a problem with the cron demon that I'm not sure what to do about... I had cron run a shell script for me by simply naming the script on a line in crontab, and it turned out that the shell script didn't manage to generate any output at all, nor was any output to be had from commands running from that script. After trying a few different tests, I removed the "close(0); close(1); close(2);" sequence from cron, and voila: The script now worked without any problems. So, have I done the right thing, should the change perhaps be to the shell itself, or is there another solution I haven't thought about? Help will be appreciated... -tih ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tom Ivar Helbekkmo ..!mcvax!ndosl!melkart!tih Fredrik Meltzers gt 11 Standard thelbekk@norunit.bitnet N-5007 Bergen disclaimers helbekkmo@nhh.uninett NORWAY apply...
