After reading the mail, I checked my own system, which has /usr/bin on the hard disk. Sure enough, the setuid bit had been cleared -- apparently when it was copied to the harddisk. I believe that I used cpdir for that, by the way. Chmod cleared it right up, of course. Interesting!! jnall@rai.fsu.edu
