[comp.os.minix] Is /dev/null really null under 1.3???

Under 1.3d, if I execute the command cat /dev/null >list
then Minix madly reads from my harddisk and writes to the file list.
Query: Is this unique to me? Or is it an undocumented feature of 1.3?
(Prayer: God, please let it not be unique to me. I've had about all the
fun I can stand, just updating from 1.2 to 1.3!!)

This is not unique and goes away if you delete /dev/null and make it again
as a character device with old major/minor numbers.
