[comp.os.minix] Is there a Minix for the Macintosh?

dlw@hpsmtc1.HP.COM (David L. Williams) (02/02/89)

Has anyone ported MINIX to the Macintosh? If so, where can it be ftp'd from?

Thanks in advance....

David

Someone claims to be working on it. Unfortunately, he also claims that he's
going to insist on a PMMU, e.g. you have to have a II, IIx, or SE/30. As I
consider this to be roughly the equivalent of PC Minix suddenly becoming
i386-only (which ast claims is not going to happen), I don't consider it to
be a legitimate port; and if nobody else does anything, I'll probably
purchase LSC and the ST Minix sources and do a Plus/SE port myself.

...and if anyone asks me where the Toolbox support is, I'll kill 'em! ;-)
(Or send 'em to talk to Chuq.)
