For a variety of reasons, I need to put the Minix source on a central
file server (SUN) for use by my OS class next semester. The PC's in
the Computer Science lab run MS-DOS and access the central file server
with NFS. It would be nice for students to be able to access the source
code under MS-DOS, compile under MS-DOS, and make a boot disk, which could
then be used on the PC to check out their modifications to the source
code as part of class assignments.
Query:
(1) Any suggestions on which MS-DOS C compiler is easiest to do this
with? I have access to Aztec C, Turbo C, Lattice C and MicroSoft.
(2) From someone who has already done it (surely there are some!) are
there any particular problems I should be aware of?
(3) Any helpful suggestions regarding directory structures, placement
of include files, etc?
Please e-mail me directly, as I doubt this is of general interest. If anyone
wants to know what I find out, let me know, and I'll send you a summary.
