Well here I was, ready to stuff that old 1040ST in a box someplace, when lo and behold I remebered that a couple of years ago someone was working on a version of UNIX for this beast. I check the net, and yes minix is alive! So I call up PH, unfortunatly they accidentally ship me an old version, but they're rectifying the problem. During the brief couple of days before I shipped the old version back I checked the sucker out. Not bad, I'll even learn something here. Allways meant to find out a bit more about the lower levels of UNIX... Anyway, it's obvious I'll need to add some stuff to that old ST, memory upgrades and most important a hard drive. I picked up a couple of ST periodicals (still pretty bad publishing) and figure an ICD drive is the way to go. Is this a wise choice of drive? Any forseeable problems? Is there a better brand of drive available? I'm assuming it'll also be possible to partition the whole drive for minix and boot from minix too? Never did think much of that TOS stuff. I'd appreciate any comments/suggestions people may have had with hard drives for the ST. Cheers, Rod. -- Rodian Paul Big Electric Cat Public UNIX ..!cmcl2!dasys1!rpaul
